Steve Selna
Steven M. Selnais a Managing Partner of the firm, Regional Partner-in-Charge of the San Francisco office, and vice-chair of the firm’s Diversity Committee. He primarily works with the firm’s Product Liability Practice Group. Steven’s practice focuses on the national coordination, defense and trial of pharmaceutical and medical device litigation, and complex commercial litigation. He is currently involved in overseeing and coordinating the defense of actions brought by state Attorneys General, alleging false advertising, violation of unfair trade practice act statutes, and consumer fraud. Steven also has particular experience in FDA regulatory matters, including drug approval, labeling and off-label promotion issues. He is also currently defending multiple consumer product liability class actions. Steven was recently successful in obtaining denial of class certification in a case pending in the Central District of California, a decision which was subsequently upheld by the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals.
Complex Litigation/Class Actions. Steven has represented companies in the defense of nationwide and regional complex litigation, including private and state Attorneys General actions and putative class action litigation.
Commercial Litigation. Steven has represented various companies in commercial and business tort litigation, involving claims of breach of contract, tortious interference with contract, breach of warranty, fraud, and trade libel. He has also represented some of these same clients in Employment-related litigation.
Intellectual Property. Steven has represented emerging technology and institutional clients in trade secret, trademark and patent infringement litigation in cases before state and federal courts in California.
In General. Before pursuing a law degree, Steven served as a legislative aide in the United States Congress.
