Jeffrey Lopez
Jeffrey J. Lopez is a partner in the firm’s Commercial Litigation and Intellectual Property Litigation Practice groups and a leader of the firm’s False Claims Act/Qui Tam team. He focuses his practice on complex commercial litigation including investigation, fact and expert discovery, pretrial, mediation, arbitration, trial and appellate proceedings.
Jeff has served as lead trial counsel and has litigated cases in a variety of state and federal courts. He has provided advice and defense with regard to claims of fraud, including bench and jury trials of qui tam suits brought under the federal False Claims Act seeking tens or hundred of millions of dollars in damages. Jeff has also litigated complex multi-party matters before the American Arbitration Association and administrative tribunals. Over his 15 years of practice, Jeff has represented a wide range of public and privately owned businesses in matters involving intellectual property, counterfeiting, trademark, copyright, contracts, antitrust, business torts, construction, real estate, consumer fraud, product liability and white collar criminal defense.
Professional Memberships. Jeff is a member of the American Bar Association and is admitted to practice in the District of Columbia and the Commonwealth of Virginia. He is also admitted to the United States District Courts for the District of Columbia and the Eastern District of Virginia and the United States Court of Appeals for the D.C. Circuit.
In General. Jeff is an honors graduate of the Georgetown University Law Center and received his undergraduate degree from Santa Clara University. He is a former law clerk to the Hon. Eric T. Washington of the Superior Court of the District of Columbia.
Jeff previously served as an instructor of mock trial advocacy at Georgetown University Law Center.
