AMA argues that medical reprints should be excluded from Sunshine Act
The American Medical Association and others released a letter to the HHS on Monday, arguing that reprints of medical textbooks and journals should be exempt from the Sunshine Act’s reporting requirements. According to one estimate, medical sales reps distributed about 10 million reprints last year. The concern is that the final regulations will inadvertently prohibit the distribution of scientifically reviewed information, undermining efforts to improve quality of care.
