First successful stem cell treatment of Cerebral Palsy at German university

Medics at Germany’s Ruhr University Bochum are the first to successfully treat pediatric Cerebral Palsy with the use of autologous cord blood containing stem cells.  The 2.5 year old boy had previously been in a persistent vegetative state, after having suffered from cardiac arrest with severe brain damage.  Two months after receiving cord blood treatment, the boy’s symptoms improved significantly, enabling speech and movement.
