First in-vitro baby to use DNA sequencing born in the U.S.
The first test-tube baby to come from an embryo that used DNA sequencing to screen for genetic defects has been born a healthy boy in the U.S. The embryo was screened using a new, low-cost technique that could help to improve in-vitro fertilization success rates. Next-generation sequencing (NGS) allows scientists and doctors to read whole genomes to help in the selection process of embryos to be implanted.
