CVS cracks down on doctors who overprescribe painkillers

In an unusual move, CVS Caremark Corp has cut off access to powerful painkillers for more than 36 doctors and other healthcare providers after being found to prescribe the drugs at a high rate.  CVS said the suspensions resulted in analysis of prescriptions from March 2010 through January 2012.  The drugs included in the analysis were: hydrocodone, oxycodone, alprazolam, methadone and carisoprodol.
